Biography

Mari Michener was born on July 10, 1920 in Las Animas, Colorado, USA. She was an actress, known for Centennial (1978). She was married to James A. Michener. She died on September 25, 1994 in Austin, Texas, USA.

Over the years, she played a major role in directing donations by James Michener totaling more than $100 million. Among the beneficiaries were the University of Texas, the Iowa Writers Workshop and Swarthmore college.

She was the brain-work and influence for many of her husband's novels.

She defended interracial marriage, was a proponent in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and she advocated for the preservation of fine art.

With her husband, she housed and cared for many underprivileged children.

Her only role as actress was in "Centennial", adapted from her husband's novel.
