Biography

Gaston Vandermeulen was born on September 14, 1904 in Mechelen, Belgium. He was an actor and director, known for Merijntje Gijzens jeugd (1974), Wij, heren van Zichem (1969) and Te Venetië als in de hemel (1966). He died on July 5, 1984 in Mechelen, Belgium.

Father of Willy Vandermeulen.

He was one of the actors in Drie dozijn rode rozen (=Three Dozen Red Roses). This film, directed by Nic Bal and Bert Janssens, was broadcast on the very first evening of Flemish television on October 31, 1953.

Gaston Vandermeulen was a Belgian actor. He was affiliated with the theatre company of (K.V.S = the Royal Dutch Theatre in Antwerp).

Vandermeulen, who had a long career in film and television, also appeared in the films "Antoon, de flierefluiter", a comedy by Jan Vanderheyden from 1942 and "De Loteling" by Roland Verhavert from 1974.

Over the years he has appeared in important TV productions such as "Wij, Heren van Zichem" by Maurits Balfoort (1969), "Merijntje Gijzens' jeugd (VARA, 1973), De komst van Joachim Stiller by Harry Kümel (1976), "Rubens, painter and diplomat" by Roland Verhavert (1977), "Dirk van Haveskerke" (1978) and "Maria Speermalie" (co-production with AVRO, 1979).
