Biography

Jacob Mestel was born on February 25, 1884 in Galicia, Austria-Hungary [now Poland]. He was an actor and writer, known for Americaner Shadchen (1940), Tkies khaf (1924) and What a Mother-in-Law! (1934). He died on August 6, 1959 in New York City, New York, USA.

A historian of Yiddish theater, contributed to the YIVO Pages and the Archive of the History of Yiddish Theater in America.
