  • Agliberto Meléndez was born on August 8, 1942 in Altamira, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. He was a director and producer, known for Un pasaje de ida (1988), Del Color de la Noche (2015) and 4 hombres y un ataud (1996). He died on July 2, 2025 in the Dominican Republic.

  • Graduated from Ohio University.
  • Between 1982 and 1986, he directed Dominican Radio Television and chaired the Organizing Committee of the National Institute of Culture, in addition to serving as a cultural advisor to the Presidency.
  • Completed his undergraduate studies at New York University.
  • His film A One Way Ticket (Un Pasaje de Ida) was the Dominican Republic's first feature-length film, produced entirely in the Dominican Republic by a Dominican cast and crew. It won 14 international awards.
  • During the dictatorship of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, he emigrated to the United States after being persecuted for his activism in the June 14th Revolutionary Movement.
