- Agliberto Meléndez was born on August 8, 1942 in Altamira, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. He was a director and producer, known for Un pasaje de ida (1988), Del Color de la Noche (2015) and 4 hombres y un ataud (1996). He died on July 2, 2025 in the Dominican Republic.

- His film A One Way Ticket (Un Pasaje de Ida) was the Dominican Republic's first feature-length film, produced entirely in the Dominican Republic by a Dominican cast and crew. It won 14 international awards.
