Lewis Meltzer was born on 28 January 1911 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a writer, known for Man-Eater of Kumaon (1948), The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) and Shark River (1953). He was married to Diane Elaine Wagy and Juanita Alethia Wilson. He died on 23 February 1995 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

Older brother of actor <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0578412/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Sid Melton</a>.

Held a B.A. in English literature from New York University.

Brought to Hollywood in 1938 at the request of director Rouben Mamoulian.
