Conor McPherson

An award wining Irish dramatist Connor, whose plays include St Nicholas and The Weir made his film directing debut with Saltwater in 1999. The film was set in a small Southern Irish coastal town and was about the Beneventi family who run the local fish shop. The father, George is grieving over the death of his wife and to make matters worse he's in debt to the local loan shark and his daughter is entangled with an unfaithful man and his youngest son is friends with the worst boy in school. While sounding like a grim scenario it is in fact a comedy drama which was written and directed by Conor
