  • David McMillan is an award-winning screenwriter, producer, playwright and filmmaker. In 2022, McMillan wrote and produced Ryan Murphy's Netflix limited series Dahmer -- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, for which he received a BAFTA TV Award for Best International Program. McMillan currently serves as an Executive Producer and writer on Monster's upcoming second season: Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. His additional writing credits include Sleepy Hollow, Lucifer, Locke & Key and Dexter: New Blood.

    In film, McMillan has worked on projects for several major studios. He's currently developing a feature for Warner Brothers/Discovery and Bradley Cooper's production company.

    In theater, McMillan's 2015 play Watching O.J. had a successful run at Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA, and earned him a Stage Raw Award for Best Achievement in Playwriting.

    A Los Angeles native, McMillan grew up in Inglewood and attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica, where he performed in a variety of plays and musicals. He continued to pursue his love for the performing arts at Yale, where he received his B.A. in English. McMillan then went on to get his M.F.A. in Production at the University of Southern California, during which time he won USC's highest honor for screenwriting, the Jack Nicholson Screenwriting Prize.

    McMillan is deeply passionate about civil rights and social justice, and serves as a proud volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters. He lives in Los Angeles.
