Biography

Anew McMaster was born on December 24, 1891 in County Monaghan, Ireland. He was an actor. He was married to Marjorie Willmore. He died on August 24, 1962 in Dublin, Ireland.

Ran his own company and spent most of his career touring in Shakespearean and other classic plays in rural Ireland, often playing in schools, village halls and the like. The standard of his productions, however, was legendarily high, and he is credited with bringing professional theater into the lives of many who might otherwise not have experienced it. Many renowned actors had early chances to shine in his productions, including Patrick Magee, Kenneth Haigh, T.P. McKenna and Harold Pinter, who wrote a warm tribute to his old boss after the latter's death in 1962.
