- Paul McGillion is a multi-award-winning actor with more than 150 film and television credits spanning an accomplished career in both North America and internationally. Born in Paisley, Scotland, as the sixth of seven children, he immigrated to Canada with his family at a young age.
While pursuing his acting career, Paul earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education and was a member of the National Champion Brock Badgers varsity wrestling team. His feature film credits include J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, Brad Bird's Tomorrowland, Kevan Funk's critically acclaimed Hello Destroyer, and the Hollywood/Bollywood romantic drama Heartbeats, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Duane Adler.
Paul's extensive television career includes notable roles in Fox's 24, ABC's Once Upon a Time, AMC's award-winning drama The Killing, Netflix's My Life with the Walter Boys and Frontier, The CW's The Flash, and The X-Files. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the beloved Scottish physician Dr. Carson Beckett in the internationally acclaimed science fiction series Stargate Atlantis, a role he played over five seasons and one that remains a favorite among fans worldwide. Paul resides in Vancouver, Canada, with his wife and their two children.
