Biography

Kate McGarrigle was born on February 6, 1946 in Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was a composer and actress, known for The Squid and the Whale (2005), Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) and Before Tomorrow (2008). She was married to Loudon Wainwright III. She died on January 18, 2010 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Her son Rufus Wainwright wrote a song about her - "Beauty Mark".

Won Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy Award) with sister Anna McGarrigle for Best Roots and Traditional Album: Group.
