Biography

Scott McCullough

Mini bio

  • Scott McCullough is a 218-time award-winning director/cinematographer whose work bridges commercial filmmaking, music videos/films, and narrative storytelling. Over a career spanning decades, he has directed more than 400 national and international broadcast campaigns for global brands that include Budweiser, Pepsi, Coors, General Motors, Amtrak, General Motors, Ford, NASCAR, Lowe’s, and Target, collaborating with leading advertising agencies such as DDB, BBDO, Digitas, The Richards Group, and Publicis. LA Weekly named him one of the "Top 10 Innovative Minds Disrupting the Entertainment Space."

Scott’s directing career began when he was recruited by Prince and Warner Bros., launching an ongoing creative partnership with Paisley Park that includes multiple RIAA Gold-certified releases and the concert film Prince & The NPG: Live at Glam Slam. His work within Prince’s creative circle also contributed to projects as part of the 2025 Grammy Award nomination for History Album Diamonds and Pearls Super Deluxe Edition box set for Prince - one of his 40 credits with the Icon.

Several of Scott’s projects have achieved IMDb audience ratings as high as 9.5, reflecting strong audience reception across genres and subjects. His narrative and documentary work include motor sports films 100% (shot in 70mm) and No Bull, which combine cinematic storytelling with large-scale racing filmmaking. Across formats - from advertising to performance films to narrative feature - Scott is known for translating ambitious creative concepts into cinematic, production-ready films while preserving story, tone, and performance.

Scott attended the University of Minnesota under the IDIM program for Advertising at the School of Journalism and also a degree at Minnesota State College for Art and Arts.
