  • By directing William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee in The Three Doctors: Episode One (1972) and Tom Baker in The Hand of Fear: Part One (1976), he was one of only three directors (the others being Christopher Barry and Douglas Camfield) to direct episodes of Doctor Who (1963) starring all of the first four actors to play the Doctor in the series.
  • He was married to dancer and actress Frances Pidgeon, whom he cast as Miss Jackson in The Hand of Fear: Part Two (1976).
  • He was attached to direct episodes of the first season of Blake's 7 (1978) but died before production began.
