Lester Matthews was born on June 6, 1900 in Nottingham, England, UK. He was an actor, known for The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), Werewolf of London (1935) and The Three Musketeers (1939). He was married to Cicely Walper and Anne Grey. He died on June 6, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Tall, dark-haired British character actor, who tended to play dashing or temperamental leads in early British talkies from 1931. Specialised in adventure, crime and horror films. Went to Hollywood with his wife, the actress Anne Grey, and was first signed by Universal to appear in Werewolf of London (1935). Settled in the U.S. permanently, mostly playing character roles, for the next 39 years.

Died on his 75th birthday.
