Berkely Mather was born on February 25, 1909 in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England, UK. Berkely was a writer, known for Dr. No (1962), The Avengers (1961) and The DuPont Show of the Week (1961). Berkely was married to Kay Jones. Berkely died on April 7, 1996 in Brede, Rye, East Sussex, England, UK.

For his earlier television dramas, claimed to always have an Australian character in the cast - who had to be played by an Australian.

Began his broadcasting career following reading book by Val Gielgud, 'The Right Way To Radio Playwriting" and after studying last chapter on writing for television, wrote his first television play, The Fast Buck (1954).

Youngest brother of Australian film-poster artist Wynne Weston Davies.

Sometimes mangled, his name was pronounced "Barkly Mayther".
