- Nora Lou Martin was born on March 31, 1921 in Portland, Oregon, USA. She was an actress, known for Hollywood Canteen (1944), The Silver Bullet (1942) and Boss of Hangtown Mesa (1942). She was married to Janik and Stephen M. Janik. She died on January 30, 2014 in Beaverton, Oregon, USA.

- Eddie Cantor signed her to a five year contract to replace Dinah Shore on his national radio show all through World War II. She made hundreds of appearances in front of returning soldiers at bases and hospitals with her "Time to Smile" tour. She also participated in war bond tours, and was very successful. In one 24 hour bond tour she raised $38,000,000.
- In the 1970's she developed the "Reach to Recovery Program" to women recover from breast cancer surgeries, and work for early detection of the disease. She also established American Cancer Society thrift shops to raise money for the ACS and foster education.She received the "Order of the Red Sword" from the ACS , an ACS National Volunteer Award.
- Survived breast cancer in1960. She decided to do what she could for others with the disease. She joined the American Cancer Society and did something unusual in those days. She went public with her story of treatment and survival. In time she became the first woman President of the Oregon Division of American Cancer Society.
- Stephen M. Janik went on be her manager and took her to Hollywood, where she made several westerns.
- Once she had returned to Portland and had two children she settled into the community while raising her family.
