Biography

Ernest H. Martin was born on August 28, 1919 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He was a producer, known for Guys and Dolls (1955), A Chorus Line (1985) and Silk Stockings (1957). He was married to Nancy Guild. He died on May 8, 1995 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Won three Tony Awards and was Tony-nominated on four other occasions, always shared with his collaborator, co-producer Cy Feuer. The wins: in 1951 as Best Producers (Musical) for "Guys and Dolls;" and in 1962, as Best Producer (Musical) and as co-producer of Best Musical winner "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." The additional nominations: in 1963, as Best Producer (Musical) and as co-producer of Best Musical nominee "Little Me;" in 1966, as co-producer of Best Musical nominee "Skyscraper;" and in 1967, as co-producer of Best Musical nominee "Walking Happy."
