- June made her first BBC broadcast at the age of 13 from the Aeolian Hall in London, beginning a long and prolific career as a singer and actress.
June sang with The Eric Winstone Orchestra alongside Michael Holliday, with popular chart-topping group The Stargazers and duetted with Matt Monro among many others.
Working with the most celebrated musicians, musical directors and performers of the era including Malcolm Lockyer, Bernard Braden, Steve Race, Ronnie Hazlehurst, Norrie Paramor, Bob Monkhouse, Alma Cogan and Kenneth Connor, June made countless radio and TV appearances, notably on programmes such as Juke Box Jury and Dial For Music.
Later, June performed as a character actress, often utilising her authentic West Country accent and was also deployed as a dialect coach and assisted in adapting scripts to include genuine West Country words and phrases.
June continued to work as a singer and actress, her final TV credit being opposite Martin Clunes in Doc Martin at the age of 88. Her last role, aged 89, was as a voice actor for The Elizabethan House, a museum in June’s hometown of Plymouth.
