- In a career on stage, screen, and television covering more than six decades, actress Enid Markey is probably best known for two roles almost fifty years apart: The original Jane Porter in the first-ever Tarzan film (1918's "Tarzan of the Apes," opposite Elmo Lincoln's Tarzan) and in the role of Mrs. Mendlebright on "The Andy Griffith Show" in 1963.
