Biography

Gilles Margaritis was born on March 19, 1912 in Paris, France. He was a writer and producer, known for L'Atalante (1934), La piste aux étoiles (1954) and The Four Musketeers (1953). He was married to Hélène Margaritis. He died on November 7, 1965 in Paris, France.

Father of Katherine Margaritis.

Was a musical comedy performer dedicated to the stage. He made his only notable film appearance, as the peddler in L'Atalante (1934), mainly out of his friendship with director Jean Vigo. In the 1950s he became a producer of variety shows for French television.

Is interred in the Margaritis family mausoleum at Pere-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, Division 2.

Died suddenly while producing Season 12 of his TV variety program La piste aux étoiles (1954). The show ran until 1976, with Margaritis receiving creator credit for each episode until the end.
