Biography

Michelle Maren was born in New Jersey. After leaving home at the tender age of 17, she sought fame and fortune in New York. In 1981, she won the titles of "Miss Chelsea" and "Miss Big Apple" and then decided to take her chances in Atlantic City. At Resorts International Casino, she worked onstage as an assistant to magician Richiardi in the show, "Witness the Impossible." Her image appeared on many men's magazine covers and she also appeared in "National Lampoon."

Her stint in adult films lasted just one year, after which she sang in Japanese nightclubs in Manhattan.

Michelle decided to leave show business and pursue higher education. She attended a private Catholic college on full academic scholarship. During her college career, she won about twenty awards and graduated with a perfect 4.0 in 2001.

Once known as "The Brunette Marilyn Monroe," Michelle Maren started supporting herself at the age of 17 when she moved to New York City from her hometown of Scotch Plains, New Jersey. In 1981, she was a beauty queen, winning the titles of "Miss Chelsea" and "Miss Big Apple." The following year she worked as a magician's assistant at Resorts International Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

She was an opening act for singer Tiny Tim ("Tiptoe Through the Tulips") and delivered Strip-O-Grams to celebrities such as Andy Warhol and the designer Halston. As a cabaret singer, Michelle sang American standards in numerous Japanese nightclubs in New York City and included over twenty songs in Japanese in her repertoire.

Between "legitimate" performing gigs, she was a go-go dancer in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Soon Michelle became a popular men's magazine model, gracing the covers of such publications as "Erotic Film Guide," "Cherie," and "High Society." She also appeared in a "National Lampoon" pictorial.

Modeling led to offers to perform in adult films. Michelle had a small part as a dancer in "Flashpants," and it was her image that appeared on the film's poster and video box. She later had a starring role in "Throat: 12 Years After," the sequel to the notorious "Deep Throat." Gerard Damiano, the writer and director of the original film, also wrote and directed the sequel.

Michelle left the adult film industry after only one year. She says of her experience, "I found that the porn industry was composed of nothing but wounded souls - all yearning for the love and attention that they never received as children. On every set, there was a pervasive cloud of sad darkness hovering over the entire production."

She later moved out of New York, converted to Catholicism, and penned her autobiography, "Whatever Happened to Miss Big Apple?"
