Daniel P. Mannix was born on October 27, 1911 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA. He was a writer and director, known for The Fox and the Hound (1981), Universal Color Parade: Parrot Jungle (1958) and Killers of Kilimanjaro (1959). He was married to Julo Mannix. He died on January 29, 1997 in Malvern, Pennsylvania, USA.

Former circus sword-swallower who became a children's writer, author of several adults-only books about freaks, and founder of the Munchkin Convention of the International Wizard of Oz Club.
