Claude Makovski was one of the founders of the Mac Mahon circle, a group of cinephiles centered at the Paris movie theatre of that name, who prioritized showing and defending the work of the Four Aces: Fritz Lang, Joseph Losey, Otto Preminger, and Raoul Walsh.
