Biography

Stephen Mailer was born on March 10th, 1966. He has been acting professionally since 1980. In 2016 he formed the company CalTeddy Productions, LLC, which produced it's first film, Flaubrucht, in 2017. The film starred Mr. Mailer, who was also the writer, producer, and director of the project. He is married to actress, artist, photographer, and celebrant, Elizabeth Rainer. He is the proud father of Cal and Teddy Mailer.

Son of author Norman Mailer and actress Beverly Bentley. Brother of Michael Mailer, Matthew Mailer, John Buffalo Mailer and Kate Mailer.

Has performed in theater, and has recently cut back on film appearances to focus his stage career. In 2003, he co-starred with his father, novelist Norman Mailer, in an adaptation of "Long Day's Journey Into Night."

Listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1990" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 42.

As of 2021, he has appeared in two films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: The Post (2017) and The Irishman (2019).

"I caught the acting bug early. My mother was rehearsing 'The Dutchman' in Provincetown at a theater called Act Four when she started, and nursing me, as well. My father was very supportive because he's an artist...I was born in New York City., but lived in Provincetown from age 4 to age 12. It was terrific growing up by the sea.
