- Madmoni was born and raised in a Religious Family in Jerusalem. His father, Baruch, was the son of Rabbi Yosef Madmoni, the rabbi of the Jewish community of Silwan (the village of Shiloah) until its deportation in 1939, and the grandson of Rabbi Sa'Aida Madmoni, the leader of the second wave in the rise of A'la in Tamar, 1882.
After his military service, he studied at the Sam Spiegel School, where he collaborated with his classmate, David Ofek, after their studies.
The preoccupation with religious content and the charged encounter between them and modernity are characteristic of his film making. The plot in his works deals mostly with the world of non-hegemonic groups in Israel. Alongside the content, his work in film and television emphasizes the "how" and examines original ways of story, such as the episodic story, breaking the linear narrative, and using patterns from the Jewish world (Midrash, Hassidic story, biblical story, sermon, etc.).
In 2005, Madmoni won the Art of Cinema award from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Madmony served from 2000 to 2004 as chairman of the Screenwriters Association and as a member of management until 2011. During the years of 2013-4 he served as a director in the royalties company for film and television creators Dolly.
Madmony is married to actress Ruthie Bornstein.
