- Brown-haired American silent screen comedian and romantic leading man, educated at Northwestern University Preparatory School and the Lewis Institute of Technology in Chicago. Prior to acting, he worked as a bond salesman in Philadelphia. MacLean trained for acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and began in films in 1914. He starred in subsequent films for Paramount Artcraft and Thomas Ince Productions. His career waned with the advent of sound pictures and he retired in 1938.
