Biography

Peter Mackie

Mini bio

  • Peter Mackie is a Canadian-American filmmaker and photographer with a passion for cinema and stories that connect and entertain.

His short films have screened at festivals around the world, including LA Shorts Fest, HollyShorts, Minneapolis-St Paul International Film Festival, Wisconsin Film Festival, Brooklyn Shorts, Cannes Court Métrage, Athens International Film Festival in Greece, and Pentedattilo Film Festival in Italy, as well as Cine Gear Expo, where his short film "Cineastes" screened at Paramount and was a finalist in the narrative shorts category.

His film, "Sergey's Fortune," won the Audience Award and Short of the Year at the 2019 Short Film Slam in Baltimore. Currently, it can be seen on Omeleto, a YouTube channel devoted exclusively to presenting award-winning short films. Another short of his, "Panofsky's Complaint," which won Best Comedy at the North Bay Art & Film Festival, can also be seen on Omeleto.

During the lockdown, Peter made three short films in quarantine: "Safer At Home," "Party Like It's Covid-1999," and "Tank Commander," a dramatic time capsule about a relationship on the rocks that was meticulously shot over four months without a crew or budget.

In 2021 and 2022, Peter served as a jury member on the 3-Shots Film Festival in Manila, Philippines, a competition which encourages young filmmakers to tell a story using only three shots. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that brought him closer together with some of his Filipino filmmaker friends.

When he's not making or taking pictures, he enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, traveling, trying different coffee shops, and above all spending time with his family and friends.
