  • MacGill had two sons, Edgar Lansbury and Bruce Lansbury, and two daughters, actress Angela Lansbury (with whom she appeared in The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945)) and Isolde Denham (who died from motor neurone disease in Brighton, England) in 1987, who was married firstly (from 1945-1950) to actor Peter Ustinov, with whom she had one daughter, actress Tamara Ustinov and secondly to Derek Dempster (1950-1967). Her other sons-in-law were Malcolm Rennie and Peter Ustinov. Her grandchildren include Anthony Pullen Shaw and David Lansbury.
  • Belfast-born Irish-British character actress, on stage from 1918. Prompted by Gerald du Maurier to change her surname from McIldowie to MacGill for her appearance onstage in "Dear Brutus". She was critically acclaimed as Desdemona, opposite Basil Rathbone, in a London production of "Othello". In small film and television roles in England and the United States from 1920 onward.
  • Directed by son-in-law Peter Ustinov in Private Angelo (1949).
  • Became United States citizen in 1951.
