Richard Macaulay was born on August 18, 1909 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was a writer, known for Riding on Air (1937), The Roaring Twenties (1939) and Ready, Willing and Able (1937). He died on September 18, 1969 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

During the Joseph McCarthy "Red Scare" , the rabidly conservative Macauley testified as a 'friendly witness' before HUAC, naming 29 people in the industry he claimed had links to the Communist Party.
