Vernon Lynch

Biography

Vernon Lynch

Overview

  • Birth name
    Vernon Lynch Jr.

Mini bio

  • After being introduced to the entertainment industry before he even knew what the term meant, Vernon Lynch immediately took to it like a fish to water. With over two decades in entertainment, including a minimal stint as a Rapper, Lynch has found his niche in producing and creating redeemable content. Lynch has coined the phrase, "Real Good Feel Good TV" to describe the content he creates and produces.

At the suggestion of his oldest brother, Charlie Murphy, Lynch and a few friends formed the Hip-Hop group K- 9 Posse, who secured a record deal in the mid 80's. In the 90s Lynch and his father Vernon Sr. successfully co- promoted two Eddie Murphy comedy tours. Lynch's exposure to some of the most creative minds in the industry led him to understand the value of building brands before it was an industry buzz term. He and his father launched a branding and merchandising company which controlled the rights to superstar Eddie Murphy's name and likeness.

Soon thereafter, Lynch began working in various areas of production that eventually led to his first credited project as a writer for the film, "Vampire in Brooklyn," starring Eddie Murphy. This led to executive producing "The Making of Delirious: 25th Anniversary Special," based on Murphy's critically acclaimed 1998 comedy tour, "Delirious."

In 2012, due to the shift in the landscape of television to increase the amount of unscripted programming, Lynch began developing content for the genre. After a brief conversation with entertainment manager, Jeff Dyson, the two decided to become partners and launched Lynch-Dyson Entertainment. They immediately began developing a concept based on the ex-wives of his brother Eddie Murphy, Will Smith, Prince, R. Kelley and Jose Conseco. After several weeks of pitch meetings they found themselves in a bidding war with several networks competing for their first project "Hollywood Exes," before it was picked up by VH-1 for 10 episodes.

The first episode of "Hollywood Exes" premiered as one of the highest for Vh-1 and continued to be a ratings success, garnering over 1.5 million viewers per episode in its first season. The show is often credited with being the new paradigm for future reality fare. Lynch, co-creator and executive producer is responsible for building a Wednesday night audience for the Viacom owned Vh-1 network. It has been picked up for a second season with an order of 12 additional episodes.

Lynch also created a series of annual tribute specials that were sold to Viacom in 2012. The first tribute, celebrating the unprecedented 30-year career of comedic icon, Eddie Murphy found Lynch teamed with the legendary live event producer Don Mischer. Leveraging his Hollywood relationships he was able to secure A-list talent such as Samuel Jackson, Tyler Perry, Chris Rock, Russell Brand, Martin Lawrence, Arsenio Hall, Adam Sandler and Jamie Foxx to participate in the first ever tribute to Murphy. The show recently aired on Spike TV where it made history, receiving the highest ratings ever for the network.

Lynch is committed to making, "Real Good Feel Good" content that is entertaining across various media platforms and genres. He is developing films, scripted and non-scripted television projects with his partner,Dyson, while producing "Hollywood Exes."
