George Lutz was born on January 1, 1947 in Long Island, New York, USA. He was a writer, known for The Amityville Horror (2005), Shattered Hopes: The True Story of the Amityville Murders - Part I: From Horror to Homicide (2011) and History's Mysteries (1998). He was married to Kathy Lutz. He died on May 8, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The book (and subsequently the movie) "The Amityville Horror" were based on his and his wife Kathy's claimed paranormal experiences in the large house they lived in Amityville, Long Island in the mid-1970s.

Stepfather of Daniel Lutz (b. 1965), Christopher Lutz (b.1968) and Missy Lutz (b. 1970).

Ex-brother-in-law of Jimmy, Joan and Micky Sexton.
