Biography

Jacques Loussier was born on October 26, 1934 in Angers, Maine-et-Loire, France. He was a composer and actor, known for Inglourious Basterds (2009), Dark of the Sun (1968) and Le Doulos (1962). He was married to Elizabeth Note and Sylvie de Tournemire. He died on March 5, 2019 in Blois, Loir-et-Cher, France.

The French pianist became famous for his jazz interpretations of the works of classical composer Johann Sebastian Bach with his series of acclaimed albums "Play Bach" 1, 2, 3, etc. His recording studio in Miraval in southern France has hosted such pop luminaries as Sting, Elton John, Pink Floyd and Sade, to name just a few.

Loussier is a licensed pilot who used to fly his own light plane.
