Biography

Willard Louis was born on April 19, 1882 in San Francisco, California, USA. He was an actor, known for Babbitt (1924), Beau Brummel (1924) and Broadway After Dark (1924). He was married to Maude Louis. He died on July 22, 1926 in Glendale, California, USA.

He was performing in two films simultaneously at the time of his death: Don Juan (1926) and The Honeymoon Express (1926). The former was only moderately successful due to its costly Vitaphone musical/sound-on disk effects, the latter film was given only a token release due to Louis' death.

Louis was playing Pedrillo, Don Juan's heavy-set assistant, in Don Juan (1926) when he died while the film was still in production. That is why his character disappears halfway through the movie.

Willard Louis was a rotund character actor of both stage and screen, best known for his portrayal of _Babbitt (1924)_. Modern sources sometime erroneously confuse him with prolific silent screen actor/director/writer, Will Louis (1873-1959).
