- Ernst Lothar was born on December 4, 1923 in Voerde, Germany. He was an actor, known for The Plot to Assassinate Hitler (1955), Amouren (1972) and Rosemaries Tochter (1976). He died on May 12, 1982 in Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
- Numerous sources conflate parts of Lothar's biography and filmography with those of the Viennese theater director Ernst Lothar, which ultimately led to an exchange of letters between the two Ernst Lothars in 1954. Lothar Ernst Saure / Ernst Lothar died unexpectedly at the age of 58 in Oberhausen, where he last worked.
- Lothar's appearances in front of film and television cameras were of little significance; the only noteworthy aspect is his interpretation of the anti-Nazi resistance fighter First Lieutenant Werner von Haeften in "Der 20. Juli," Falk Harnack's reconstruction of the assassination attempt on Hitler in 1944.
- He participated in the German Eurovision pre-selection in 1961 with the song "Dich hat das Schicksal für mich bestimmt". The song charted on RIAS radio in May and June 1961, even reaching number 4 in June.
