Rob Lord

Biography

  • Rob Lord is a two-time ASCAP Screen Award-winning London-based film and television composer working across drama, comedy, sci-fi and horror.

His film credits include Amazon Studios’ Troop Zero (starring Viola Davis and Allison Janney), comedy Apartment 12 (Mark Ruffalo), comedy Coffee Wars (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), and the sci-fi heist feature Slipstream (Sean Astin, Vinnie Jones). In the horror genre, his work can be heard in the Pumpkinhead films Ashes to Ashes and Blood Feud, both starring Lance Henriksen and Doug Bradley, as well as horror features Writer’s Retreat for Moli Films and Old Gal for Channel Four.

Recent projects include Amazon Studios’ comedy Maintenance Required (Katy O’Brian, Jim Gaffigan), coming of age comedy How to Date Billy Walsh (Sebastian Croft, Charithra Chandran, Tanner Buchanan, Nick Frost), Paramount’s comedy feature Buddy Games: Spring Awakening (Josh Duhamel), and feature documentary Copa 71 for Westbrook Films and Dogwoof.

Rob’s television work includes the multi-award-winning U.S. sci-fi drama series RCVR and BAFTA and RTS-nominated BBC documentary The Girl Who Talked to Dolphins. He recently scored two series of Sky’s Mission to Burnley and earned an RTS nomination for his score to the ITV feature documentary Fightback. His work also extends into multiple series of animation, children's TV, factual programming, and documentary.

Beyond screen scoring, Rob created music and sound design for artist Ai Weiwei’s landmark exhibition at London’s Royal Academy of Arts, and has composed scores for major game publishers and developers including Eidos, Sony, Disney, SEGA, Codemasters, Perfect Entertainment, and Microsoft.

Before moving into composition Rob toured and recorded with bands including Dodgy, The Primitives, Voice of the Beehive, The Candyskins, The Connells and Paul Oakenfold’s Grace, for whom he wrote the UK hit You’re Not Mine. He also fronted his own bands (Vagabond Joy and Starpower), signed to EMI and Rough Trade, released Krautrock influenced work under the name Ausgang and appeared on Mute Records electronica compilations.
