Frederick Lonsdale

Grandfather of Edward Fox, James Fox and Robert Fox.
The son of a tobacconist and author of sophisticated plays about life in high society. Briefly under contract to MGM in 1930.
Enjoyed a 40-year career as a Broadway playwright and director; active there from 1910-1950. A 1985 revival of his 1923 romantic comedy, Aren't We All? marked Claudette Colbert's final stage appearance.
Father in law of Rodney Ackland.
Father of writer Frances Donaldson and Angela Fox.
He is the great-grandfather of Emilia Fox, Laurence Fox and Freddie Fox.
