Biography

Composer, arranger and saxophonist Joseph A. "Fud" Livingston was educated at Citadel College, joined ASCAP in 1946, and played with several dance bands, eventually arranging over a five-year period for the Paul Whiteman orchestra, and then for the orchestras of Freddy Rich and Andre Kostelanetz. He came to Hollywood and scored films. His popular-song compositions include "I'm Through With Love", "Lorraine", "Au Reet", "Without a Penny in Your Pocket", "Any Old Time", and the saxophone solos "Feelin' No Pain", "Imagination", and "Humpty Dumpty".

Pianist, saxophonist and clarinettist. Played in many name bands during the 1920's and 30's, including the California Ramblers, Ben Pollack, Jean Goldkette and Jan Garber. Occasional arranger for Paul Whiteman and others. Joined the Jimmy Dorsey orchestra in the late 1930's. Worked in Hollywood as arranger in the 40's. Later career declined due to personal problems and Livingston ended his career as a bar-room pianist.
