Biography

Tommy LiPuma was born on July 5, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He was a producer, known for True Crime (1999), Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) and Sleepless in Seattle (1993). He was married to Gill Kleiner. He died on March 13, 2017 in New York City, New York, USA.

Highly regarded record producer and top label executive with Warner Brothers, Elektra and GRP Records.

Co-founded Blue Thumb Records (1968-72).

He won five Grammys for his productions, among more than 30 for which he was nominated in a career that spanned more than five decades. Among the recordings he produced were Natalie Cole's "Unforgettable . . . With Love" in 1991, which won the Grammy for album of the year, George Benson's 1976 album "Breezin'," which yielded the record of the year Grammy-winning single "This Masquerade," and 11 albums with singer-pianist Diana Krall.
