Katharina Lind

  • Actress
IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
A trained theatre actress, Katharina Lind made her debut in the early 1960s in roles as young girls in films and on television in the GDR. Her ‘rebellious Pechmarie’ in the fairy tale film Frau Holle is particularly memorable. Critics pointed out that Lind, who had to play the lazy daughter of the widow in such a way that children could identify with her, proved herself to be a representative of the ‘rarely seen type of female character comedian in film.’ In 1964, she played the girl Lies in another fairy tale film called Die goldene Gans (The Golden Goose). Later, Lind switched to playing mothers. Under the direction of Egon Günther, she took on the role of Mother Gastl in Abschied, a film adaptation of the novel Abschied by Johannes R. Becher. In 1971, she starred alongside many famous GDR actresses in the feature film KLK an PTX - Die Rote Kapelle, where she played the dancer and resistance fighter Oda Schottmüller. In addition to her film roles, she appeared on the most famous theatre stages in the GDR in the 1960s and 70s and worked frequently with Benno Besson, among others. Lind also worked as a narrator for documentaries and radio plays and as a dubbing artist. Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, she ended her acting career and has since lived a secluded life in Berlin.
