Biography

Louis D. Lighton was born on November 25, 1895 in Florence, Nebraska, USA. Louis was a writer and producer, known for Captains Courageous (1937), Wings (1927) and Home, Sweet Homicide (1946). Louis was married to Hope Loring. Louis died on February 1, 1963 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Adopted wife's daughter, Pat.

Trained as an Army pilot, though WWI ended before he completed training.

After his military service, he joined his family in Hollywood. His father, W.R. Lighton, was a writer who created the character of BIlly Fortune for Will Rogers (I) in Water, Water Everywhere (1920). Unfortunately his father soon died, but son Louis married top screenwriter Hope Loring, and they became a very successful writing/producing team.
