- Debra Light was born in Pittsburgh PA. She got her B.A. in Radio, TV, and Film at the University of Maryland with a minor in Piano Performance, class of 1990. After arriving in Los Angeles, Debra received an MFA in Film Editing from the American Film Institute in 1993. She began her career as an assistant film editor at Disney TV Animation and quickly transitioned to live action working as an AE on award winning films and TV movies such as Pirates of Silicon Valley, The Patriot and The Deep End. She got her break as an Editor on a CBS special entitled AFI's 100 Years, 100 Thrills; America's Most Heart-Pounding Movies. She continued to edit on this franchise for the next 8 years. During this period she was nominated for 5 Emmy awards and won for AFI's 100 years, 100 Passions; America's Greatest Love Stories. Also during this period Debra began editing Reality TV. She enjoyed the huge creative contribution made by an editor in this genre. She thrived and established herself as a heavy hitter on some of the high profile network Reality TV series including; The Biggest Loser, X-Factor, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise and The Golden Bachelor. She was promoted to Co-Executive Producer at NZK Productions and served as Supervising Producer and Co-EP for 6 years on various series of the Bachelor Nation. Debra is a member of ACE (American Cinema Editors), MPEG (Motion Picture Editors Guild) and ATAS (Academy of TV Arts and Sciences)
