Biography

Herbert Clyde Lewis was born on August 15, 1909 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a writer, known for It Happened on Fifth Avenue (1947), Escape to Paradise (1939) and Fisherman's Wharf (1939). He was married to Gita. He died on October 17, 1950 in New York City, New York, USA.

The son of Yiddish-speaking Russian immigrants.

Before writing independently, he had been a reporter at The New York Journal, and had worked for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. He was on the news staff of The New York Herald Tribune in 1942 when he went to Hollywood.
