- George J. Lewis was born on December 10, 1903 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He was an actor, known for Zorro's Black Whip (1944), Captain America (1944) and Malice in the Palace (1949). He was married to Mary Louise Lohman. He died on December 8, 1995 in Rancho Santa Fe, California, USA.

- In 1944 he played the leading male role in Zorro's Black Whip (1944), which featured the first female incarnation of the masked avenger. Thirteen years later he was cast in the defining version Zorro (1957) as Zorro/Diego's father, Don Alejandro de la Vega.
- Although he appeared in hundreds of films over his long career, he is best remembered as Guy Williams' stately father in the Walt Disney Zorro (1957) series.
