A University of Wisconsin, Madison alumna, Erica Levy met her husband after her college career and during the beginning of her post-college life in New York City. She married on August 10, 2003 at New York City's Central Synagogue.

She gave birth to her daughter (Solita Liliana Rivera) on August 2, 2005, just eight days shy of her second wedding anniversary.

Her immediate family (besides her husband and their daughter) are her parents, Nancy and Howard A. Levy (1944-September 26, 2007), and her brother, Joshua.

She is the sister-in-law of Craig Rivera and Cordelia Bowe.

Her brother, Joshua, was born April 30, 1972.

In contrast to her Republican husband, she is a Democrat.

Until she moved back to Shaker Heights, she lived in Edgewater, New Jersey, with her husband and their daughter. While she resided there, she encouraged her daughter to volunteer at the Jewish Community Center in neighboring Tenafly. When she returned to Shaker Heights, she encouraged her family to involve themselves in building up and advocating for the Cleveland-area Jewish community-including through the local ADL branch (of which her father served as a president) and through Temple Tifereth Israel (of which she was a board member until its merger with Anshe Chesed Fairmount).

She is a second cousin and fellow Shaker Heights native of Marisa Saks.

She is a friend and former colleague of Alina Cho.
