William was pals with James Dean; they were next door neighbors when Bill was just a kid. Bill was the star in the first black and white TV series about a boy and his dog (the dog got "co-star" status).
When Dean died, Elvis called Bill to hang out with him in Bel Air; Elvis was a huge fan of both Dean and Tinseltown. Bill knows both and more... "much more!"
He made the Olympic gymnastic team. He quit because he did not want to ditch fast cars AND beautiful women in lieu of training for several years for a "hunk of metal" (his words, although his medal-winning coach thought that Bill was certain to say "medal" himself).
He discovered Patrick Swayze AND Deborah Winger; he cast them in their first professional roles. All 12 of his international films made money; they came in under budget (mostly), and always "on time!"
Bill won three Emmys for editing. He was equally adept in film, music, and dialogue. Orson Welles called Bill "the Film Doctor!" when he saved one of Welles' films OVERNIGHT!
He served his country (with distinction and top secret clearance) in the Armed Forces.
