Lyubomir Levchev is a Bulgarian writer, poet. Lyubomir Spiridonov Levchev was born on April 29, 1935 in Troyan, Bulgaria . He graduated from high school in Sofia and higher education in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" , specialty "Bibliography and Library Science" at the Philosophy and History Faculty. His first book, "The stars are mine" was published in 1957 and a total of 58 of his books have been translated in 36 countries. He is an author of three novels and scripts for the films " Silent trails ," " Death of Alexander the Great " and " Sweet and bitter ." He has worked in Sofia Radio and newspaper " Literary Front ." He was a Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Writers since 1979 to 1988. Levchev was a participant in the recent private environment of the dictator Todor Zhivkov , known as "hunting party" and acting as an informal advisory staff. Since 1991, he is the owner of the publishing house "Orpheus" issuing poetry and self-titled magazine. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers, and the Union of Bulgarian Writers. He won Gold medal for poetry of the French Academy and is a winner of the title Knight of Poetry (1985); he won also Medal of the Association of Venezuelan Writers (1985); Prizes "Mate Zalka "and" Boris Polevoy "- Russia (1986); Grand Prix of the Institute "Alexander Pushkin" and the Sorbonne (1989); World Prize for Mystical Poetry "Fernando Riello" (1993); the Order "Vladimir Mayakovsky", established by the Writers' Union in Eurasia and the Union of Writers and Translators in Russia and Diploma of Literary social premium "always lit" in 2009; "Golden Wreath" of the Struga Poetry Evenings (2010). He is a winner of the highest state award in the People's Republic of Bulgaria for contribution in science, arts and culture - Dimitrov Prize for 1972; Winner of the National Literature Prize "Penyo Penev" for 1984. On the occasion of his 70th anniversary in 2006, Lyubomir Levchev was awarded by President Georgi Parvanov with the Order of Stara Planina for "exceptional merits to Bulgaria, for the development and promotion of Bulgarian art and culture". He is a Doctor Honoris Causa of Burgas Free University. In 2008, he received the national award "Hristo G. Danov" for Lifetime Achievement. He is a Honorary citizen of Smolyan (2010).
