He expressed interest in directing Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), before it was given to Joe Johnston.

Turned down an offer to direct Thor (2011), citing a lack of interest in the character.

Prior to casting Edward Norton, Leterrier's first choice for the role of Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk (2008), was Mark Ruffalo. Marvel Studios ultimately preferred Norton due to being a bigger name at the time. Ruffalo would later take over the role from The Avengers (2012) onward.

Was one of the many filmmakers considered to direct Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), when Michael Bay initially backed out of returning to the directing duties.

He took over directing Fast X (2023) after original director Justin Lin dropped out after a week of filming.

During the making of Alien: Resurrection (1997), Leterrier acted as an on-set production assistant to director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Following this experience, along with being an assistant on both Joan of Arc (1999) and Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (2002), he subsequently became a director himself with The Transporter (2002) being his directorial debut.

He was in the running to direct The Avengers (2012), before Joss Whedon was ultimately selected to write and direct the film.

He was initially set to return to direct Now You See Me 2 (2016), however Leterrier ultimately just produced the sequel and Jon M. Chu was picked to direct instead.

Producer Kevin Feige offered Leterrier a chance to direct Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), he was interested in the possibility of directing the film initially. However things fell through and James Gunn ultimately took on the film.

On his directorial debut The Transporter (2002), Leterrier directed the majority of the film while the late Corey Yuen served as fight choreographer. The European release credits Leterrier as the director and Yeun as the action director, while the American release credits Yuen as the film's director and Leterrier as the artistic director.

He was unimpressed with the 3D conversion that Clash of the Titans (2010) went through. Leterrier didn't return to direct the film's sequel Wrath of the Titans (2012) because of this, though he did remain a producer.

Was interested in directing Iron Man (2008), however Marvel Studios preferred Jon Favreau over him. Leterrier was then offered The Incredible Hulk (2008) instead, to which he accepted.

He was considered to direct The Shallows (2016), The Fate of the Furious (2017), and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024). All of which he either turned down or dropped out.
