Natan Oziasovich Lerner is Soviet and Russian production designer and animation director, screenwriter. Natan was born in Baku. After graduating in 1953 from the Moscow Regional Art College of 1905, studied for two years at the V. Surikov State Art Institute in Moscow, then transferred to the art faculty of VGIK, which he graduated in 1959. Got a specialty as an artist of animated films.

Since 1960 - production designer of the Soyuzmultfilm movie studio. Working with leading Soviet directors, such as Mikhail Tsekhanovskiy and Vera Tsekhanovskaya (The Fox, the Beaver and Others (1961)) and the feature film The Wild Swans (1962), Efim Gamburg (Shpionskie strasti (1967)) and (Proiskhozhdenie vida (1966)) and others, passed the best school of animation.

Lerner made his debut as a director at the Tajikfilm studio, where in 1972 he directed the film "Affendi, the Donkey and Thieves". Since 1973 he worked at the Multtelefilm studio in the Ekran Creative Association. The first directorial work at the new studio immediately brought success with colleagues and popularity with the audience. These were two episodes of the mini-series Priklyucheniya Myunkhauzena (1982), which had previously been launched on Multtelefilm: Metkiy vystrel (1973) and Pavlin (1974).

In the early 1980s, Natan Lerner became interested in creating puppet films and achieved notable success. Lerner's best film of these years, The Imp N13 (1982). Natan Lerner's animated films were awarded at festivals.
