Biography

Leonard Lewis, known professionally as Leonard of Mayfair or simply Leonard, was a British hairdresser. He trained under the legendary Rose Evansky, before going to work with Vidal Sassoon. Later he left to start his own House of Leonard; a five store salon. His clients included Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Terence Stamp, Mick Jagger, Grace Kelly, Marie Helvin, Jerry Hall, Audrey Hepburn, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Warren Beatty, David Frost, Barbra Streisand, Catherine Deneuve, Jean Shrimpton, Bianca Jagger, Tony Curtis, and The Beatles.

His most famous creation was 1960s model Twiggy's famous haircut. He worked for fashion publications like Vogue and frequently collaborated with fashion designer Zandra Rhodes who loved Daniel Galvin Senior, the Leonard of Mayfair's colorist. He trained many stylists who would later become famous in their own right, including Nicky Clarke and John Freida.
