- Danny Leiner was born on May 13, 1961 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. He was a director and producer, known for Dude, Where's My Car? (2000), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004) and The Great New Wonderful (2005). He was married to Margaret Mendelson. He died on October 18, 2018 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

- Actress Edie Falco met Leiner when they were both students at SUNY Purchase and later appeared in several of his first films.
- Yet another graduate of SUNY Purchase whose alumni from the film and acting departments are known collectively as "The Purchase Mafia". Although Danny did not graduate from either of these departments, he was friendly with (Purchase grad and Shooting Gallery Co-Founder) Bob Gosse and other Purchase film makers. It was these associations which led to his directorial debut on "Layin' Low".
- In addition to writing and directing, Danny has recently formed the production company, Sly Dog Films, with writer-producer Matt Tauber. Danny was also the lead guitarist in the seminal Brooklyn garage band, The Flying Guacamoles.
