Julian Lee was born in South Korea where he began his training in the martial arts very young to overcome his shyness. At the age of 14, he became the Gold medalist of the first Korean National (Junior) Taekwondo Championship organized by Chang Hun Ryu, aka General Choi Hong Hi (founder of Taekwondo) before moving to the United States. Lee's first experience in front of the camera was for a martial arts training video, Sul Sa Do: Korean Ninja Legacy. Its success led to the production of Tanto and the Sul Sa Transformer series of ten videos. In 1988 director Philip Roth asked Lee to do stunt fighting for the movie Bad Trip (1988). Roth was impressed by Lee's work on Bad Trip and MPI Entertainment offered to make another movie starring Lee. Julian, and his brother Tae, developed the story they called Gang Wars, which later became the movie Fatal Revenge (1989). Lee worked as executive producer on Ironheart (1992) which was distributed by Imperial Entertainment, which then offered him the starring role in My Samurai (1992). His most recent production is the newly released feature film Assassin's Code (Screen Media/Universal Pictures 2011).
